Fotosintesis adalah peristiwa penyusan zat organic (gula) dari zat anorganik (air, Karbondioksida) dengan pertolongan energi cahaya, setiap tumbuhan hijau selalu mengadakan proses Fotosintesis, fotosistesis umumnya terjadi pada waktu siang hari, namun proses ini juga dapat terjadi pada malam hari asalkan terdapat sumber cahaya.

                           Secara singkat persamaan reaksi Fotosintesis yang terjadi di alam adalah sebagai berikut  :

Proses Fotosintesis adalah kebalikan dari P\proses Respirasi. Proses ini umumnya terjadi pada waktu siang hari, namun proses ini juga dapat terjadi pada malam hari asalkan terdapat sumber cahaya.
